Biography
Christian is a partner based in our London office. He has over 25 years of experience as a securitization lawyer. He joined Norton Rose Fulbright from a leading investment bank, where he was senior legal counsel, and is a former partner at another large international law firm.
Christian focuses primarily on structured finance and securitization transactions, working with sponsors, lenders, issuers, investors and others across a broad range of asset classes. His experience includes advising on the financing of residential and commercial mortgage assets (standalone, conduit and digital, including CMBS), on the financing of residential and commercial solar assets, infrastructure / whole business securitisation, and trade / lease finance, as well as on the trading and financing of both performing and NPL portfolios. He has advised on a number of market-first transactions and has significant cross-border experience.

- Advised Powen Group and Brookfield Renewable on the structuring and establishment of an up to €120mn solar receivable borrowing-base financing structure funded by Barclays Europe. This was the first European solar securitization of a portfolio combining receivables in both the residential and commercial and industrial sectors.
- Advised RBS as arranger and lead manager of €5.65bn of RMBS note issuances under its Celtic RMBS programmes, the relevant transactions relating to portfolios of mortgage loans originated by Ulster Bank.
- Advised Eurohypo as the structurer, arranger and lead manager on the majority of the CMBS issuances (including pan-European issuances) undertaken under the Opera programme.
- Advised GMAC-RFC as originator on a number of the residential mortgage securitizations carried out under its multibillion-pound residential mortgage securitization programme known as RMAC.
- Advised Blackstone as structurer and sponsor in connection with the restructuring (by means of a consent solicitation) of its outstanding opco/ propco CMBS debt secured on the four original Center Parcs UK holiday villages.
- Advised Goldman Sachs as structurer and arranger of the €1.34bn sale and leaseback credit-tenant linked CMBSstyle financing of the Banco Santander retail branch network in Spain.
- Advised Barclays in connection with the rated structured finance elements of the £390m development financing.
- Advised Barclays as structurer, arranger and lead manager in respect of the establishment of the Globe Pubs group (divested from Heineken) and its financing by means of an £257m whole business securitization
