Biography
Tim Wellington is a co-founder of public policy and reputational risk consultancy, Chapel Lane Advisory (CLA). As part of a strategic alliance with Norton Rose Fulbright, Tim and fellow CLA co-founder Daniel Ward, support the firm's risk advisory practice and offer strategic political and reputational risk consulting, public policy solutions and advocacy, compliance and integrity services, and crisis management advice.
Tim has extensive experience in senior political roles in state and federal governments, and was formerly Chief of Staff to the Commonwealth Attorney-General, Minister for Industrial Relations and Leader of the House. As Chief of Staff he was responsible for the oversight and management of all policy, political and media decisions in the country's first law office, leading a team of 17 political and legal advisers. This included working through the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Government's emergency response measures.
Outside of government Tim was until recently Head of External Affairs at Westpac where he advised senior executives on policy and reputation risk, including on ESG and emissions policy. He also spent four months on secondment to the group's COVID-19 incident management team.
