Biography
Amy King a senior associate in the Intellectual Property team, based in Durban, and currently leads the Trade Marks Prosecution team.
Amy assists clients with adopting intellectual property strategies both locally and abroad. Her strengths are to build vested client relationships, following and implementing proper processes to support and establish a prosecution department. Her experience comes from a broad range of intellectual property matters including transactional matters, trade mark clearance searches and filings (throughout Africa), and formal oppositions before the Registrar of Trade Marks. Amy has been actively involved in furnishing advice and conducting due diligence exercises which affect client’s intellectual property rights.
Amy also specialises in copyright and has experience in copyright and trade mark infringement dispute resolution, in domain name dispute resolution, transactional intellectual property, intellectual property structuring, as well as social media take downs involving intellectual property infringements, including on Facebook, as well as through the Internet Service Providers' Association of South Africa.
Amy holds a Bachelor of Social Science degree (majoring in Politics and Law) from the University of Cape Town and an LLB degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
