Biography
Daniel Leduc frequently advises employers in both the federal and Quebec jurisdictions on the application and interpretation of collective agreements, on labour standards and on human rights and freedoms.
He is particularly qualified to advise on issues in the areas of labour standards, restrictive covenants (non-compete and non-solicitation agreements), certification and the protection of personal information. He also has in-depth knowledge of workplace harassment issues and leading discrimination cases. His knowledge of the rules that govern the management of absenteeism, workplace discipline and performance is vast.
Daniel is also a seasoned trial lawyer who regularly represents the largest companies in Canada, small and medium-sized businesses, public and parapublic bodies and professional orders before grievance and dispute arbitrators, the Quebec Administrative Labour Tribunal, the Quebec Human Rights Tribunal, the Canada Industrial Relations Board, the Quebec Superior Court, the Federal Court of Canada and the appeal courts. He is also regularly called upon to act as a spokesperson in collective bargaining in various sectors including the security industry, professional orders and manufacturing.
Daniel is a frequent guest speaker of numerous associations on a range of topics, including absenteeism management, disciplinary management, work performance, collective bargaining, time theft, the use of social media on the job, and workplace investigations. He taught employment and labour law and bargaining techniques at the Quebec Bar Admission Course for a number of years.

Daniel recently acted for the following clients:
- The Quebec Bar, as spokesperson in negotiating the collective agreement applicable to its professional employees, including its lawyers.
- The Association provinciale des agences de sécurité, including Garda, Securitas, Gardium, the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires, as spokesperson for the negotiation of the collective agreement for security guards employed by them, representing over 10,000 security guards.
- PSP Investments, in connection with significant litigation involving the short- and long-term incentive plans applicable to their senior executives. A favourable decision was rendered by the Superior Court in January 2020 and by the Court of Appeal in March 2022.
- Bombardier, Laurentian Bank of Canada and Énergir, in numerous grievance cases and before the Canada Industrial Relations Board.
- CGI, in the context of numerous complaints filed under the Act respecting labour standards and the Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms.
- Numerous manufacturing companies, including Akzo, PPG, Nouryon, Cooper Standard, Mitchell Aerospace, for their employment and labour law needs, including the negotiation of their collective agreements, the application and interpretation of their collective agreements and management of numerous grievances.
- Numerous professional bodies, including the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers auxiliaires du Québec and the Quebec Bar, for various issues surrounding governance, their policies, negotiation, application and interpretation of their collective agreements.
- A number of school boards and private educational institutions, for the management of their support staff and teachers and, where applicable, the negotiation, application and interpretation of their collective agreement.
