Laura Seiler
Director of Talent and Reward
About me
I joined Transform in May 2017 as a Consultant, piloting resource management (RM) processes which were designed to drive productivity, efficiency and the use of new legal processes among our legal populations. Instigating a change is especially difficult when there are already well defined processes and ways of working, which was the case when I arrived at NRF. Our challenge was made easier thanks to the innovative solutions created by the NRF Transform team and the customer-orientated approach of those who had developed these solutions. The RM team were able to act as a connector between the lawyers and the solution developers to help transition the delivery of certain types of work.
The success of the RM pilot meant that we were given the go ahead to roll out RM across the firm, and I joined NRF permanently taking on the role of Head of RM. The team’s remit also expanded to include fee-earner development. NRF’s Future Lawyer programme identifies the skills our lawyers will need to meet the future requirements of our clients and the RM team work with Partners to identify opportunities for lawyers to develop these skills.
The NRF Transform group is constantly evolving and in 2019 we created a sub division of NRF Transform called Commercial which brought together the Pricing, Commercial Management, Legal Project Management and Resource Management teams to focus on innovations in the delivery of legal services. At this point I took on the role of Deputy Head of Commercial, working with Kiran Radhakrishnan (then Head of Commercial), to support and develop the teams within Commercial.
In 2021 I was promoted to Talent and Resourcing Director. As part of my role I now oversee the development of our business legal and operations graduate scheme and Transform consultant pathway. Seeing these cohorts develop skills in different areas and apply their thinking in new ways is hugely motivating and I’m constantly amazed and inspired by their contributions to NRF Transform.

Fun fact
I ran in a charity race against Olympian Dame Kelly Holmes. And my favourite saying is it’s the taking part that counts!
Previously
I started work at 15 as weekend staff in a local florist shop. I worked as a florist throughout my time at university and was promoted to shop manager whilst studying law at the University of Law in London. Unable to stand another winter in a cold florist shop I quit flowers for legal headhunting and coffees in the city with lawyers. I worked as a head-hunter for several years before joining a global professional services firm. At a global professional services firm I set up work allocation and demand planning processes in different parts of the business, eventually heading up the Resource Management function of their Forensic Services division.
Best part of the job
From day one being given the opportunity to drive change.
