Norton Rose Fulbright partners recognised at IFLR Europe Women in Business Law Awards

Norton Rose Fulbright partners Farmida Bi and Eva-Maria Barbosa have been awarded “Outstanding Practitioner” and “Best in insurance & reinsurance” respectively at the ninth annual Europe Women in Business Law Awards 2019 organised by International Financial Law Review (IFLR). The awards took place on June 13 at The Savoy in London and recognise the best lawyers in across 35 practice areas and includes achievement awards.

Farmida Bi, partner and chair of Europe, Middle East and Asia, has been awarded the “Outstanding Practitioner” award. Farmida is also the firm’s European Head of Islamic Finance. She has more than 20 years of experience in capital markets and Islamic finance transactions, advising on English and New York law. Farmida acts for arrangers, dealers, issuers and trustees on a wide range of debt instruments, including project bonds, debt programmes, high-yield bonds, private placements and Islamic bond issuances.

Farmida, who is named as a 'leading individual' for Islamic finance and for debt capital markets in Legal 500 UK, commented:

Eva-Maria was awarded “Best in insurance & reinsurance.” Eva-Maria is a corporate insurance partner based in the firm’s Munich office. She has broad experience in insurance regulatory and corporate insurance matters. She has led many insurance-related M&A and restructuring projects, including exit strategies for discontinued business, run-off and cross-border outsourcing service agreements as well as mergers and cooperation agreements.

Eva-Maria, who is ranked as leading individual in Chambers Europe for Insurance, commented:
