Biography
Katherine Barbacki is an associate practising in the areas of cybersecurity, data privacy and technology law.
Her cybersecurity practice focuses on assisting clients in preparing for and responding to data and privacy breaches. She also regularly advises clients on a number of privacy matters, including regulatory compliance with provincial, federal and international requirements. She also advises clients on provincial and federal access to information matters. As part of her technology practice, Katherine assists clients in drafting and negotiating a wide array of contractual technology agreements, including outsourcing, licensing and other technology services agreements.

- Assisted a large Canadian financial institution in managing a cybersecurity incident involving a business email compromise
- Advised numerous private sector clients in response to large-scale cybersecurity incidents involving ransomware, including submissions to the provincial and federal privacy regulators
- Assisted a private sector client in response to an investigation by privacy regulators
