Biography
Des Yek is a commercial and public law lawyer based in Canberra. He is focused on advising government and private sector clients on matters relating to privacy and data sharing, cyber incident responses, regulatory compliance, probity, procurement, and grants administration.
Des has extensive experience across a number of industries that include telecommunications, health, energy and renewables, and defence. His clients have included private sector clients as well as Commonwealth, State and Territory government departments and agencies.
Des has an excellent understanding of government processes based on his extensive government policy experience, as he has over 16 years of experience within the Australian Public Service prior to becoming a lawyer.
Des’ previous public service experience included senior policy and managerial roles with several Commonwealth departments. He has led policy teams and provided high level policy advice to the Minister, ministerial advisers and department executives on current and emerging issues with government programs.
Des' extensive experience means he has a deep understanding of the unique Commonwealth operating environment, and understands how to support Commonwealth Government clients in navigating the complex policy, stakeholder and legal frameworks within which government decisions are made.
