Biography
Thanusha is a Director in the Employment and Labour Law Team based in our Durban office.
She is a specialist Employment Law Attorney with 16 years of experience in the field and is a trusted advisor to clients in a wide variety of industries. She has a demonstrated history of advising national and international companies, government institutions, bargaining councils, trade unions and individuals.
Her extensive experience covers the entire spectrum of employment law and having acted for both corporate clients and trade unions, as well as taking on the role of an in-house legal advisor for a large corporate. This has given her the added advantage of being acutely aware of the differing views in the employment law sphere and thereby being able to render strategic practical advice.
Her particular expertise lies in developing strategy on long term business sustainability, corporate governance and ethics, business restructuring, due diligence in respect of mergers and acquisitions, forensic investigations, drafting and negotiating contracts, Section 197 transfers and more particularly collective bargaining, strike negotiation, unfair discrimination, unfair dismissals and unfair labour practice disputes.
Thanusha was instrumental in drafting the main collective agreement for the National Textile Industry in South Africa which was gazetted by the Minister of Employment and Labour in 2019.
