Biography
Terence De Silva is a dispute resolution lawyer based in Singapore, with in-house technology experience. His experience extends across a broad range of commercial litigation and international arbitration, with a focus on financial crime, insolvency matters and joint venture / shareholder disputes.
Terence has represented clients in relation to investigations and actions brought by various authorities and regulators in Singapore, including the Commercial Affairs Department of the Singapore Police Force and the Attorney-General's Chambers of Singapore. He also advises on compliance matters, including data protection, anti-bribery and corruption, and sanctions.
Terence was previously in-house counsel at TikTok. He has experience advising on data protection issues, platform intermediary liability, and court proceedings in multiple jurisdictions. Terence worked closely with international stakeholders to create, modify and enforce policies and programmes to ensure compliance with various regional laws. He also frequently liaised with regulatory authorities. Before that, Terence trained and practised with a prominent Senior Counsel in a boutique dispute resolution firm.
Terence is certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals as an Information Privacy Manager and Information Privacy Professional (Asia).
