About me

I joined NRF Transform’s Business and Legal Operations Graduate (BLOG) scheme at Norton Rose Fulbright as part of the 2024 intake. Prior to joining the firm, I studied Business Management at the University of Sheffield - and before that, I completed an apprenticeship.

A passion for technology and problem-solving, combined with first-hand experience implementing cutting-edge yet meaningful solutions, convinced me that a continued career in technology was the right path to follow. This desire for a new challenge in a new sector led me conveniently to the emerging world of legal tech, and more specifically, the trailblazing work of NRF Transform. Learning how to address the challenges of a historic sector through deploying relevant innovations and overcoming resistance acted as key motivators in applying to the firm, as did the opportunity to gain cross-business exposure through the rotational nature of Norton Rose Fulbright’s BLOG scheme.

Fun fact

Firmly breaking with all traditions and norms, the correct spelling of my name is ‘Samual’ and not ‘Samuel’ – you will, however, get a different account as to why that is depending on which of my parents you ask!

Previously

Before studying at university and joining Norton Rose Fulbright, I completed an apprenticeship at an advanced manufacturing company, where I spent five years working in the firm’s consulting and business development team. In my role, I collaborated with clients in a variety of sectors and advised on the 3D printing of products ranging from dentures and car bumpers, through to body armour and braille teaching aids.

Best part of the job

Despite being with Norton Rose Fulbright for a short period of time, the firm culture and camaraderie of my team both stand out as quite remarkable. Everyone is willing to show what they’re working on and teach you about their approach, all while encouraging questioning - this same attitude carries into cross-team collaborations, with the result being a history of successful project delivery.
