Biography
Carmen is an environmental and planning lawyer based in Melbourne.
Carmen has extensive transactional, litigious and advisory experience specialising in environmental law. She has experience in advising clients in the renewable energy, waste, agri-industrial and industrial sectors on a wide range of environmental and planning matters, including environmental licensing and compliance, contaminated land obligations and notifications, waste management, due diligence and transactional advice.
Coming from a general regulatory background specialised in environmental law makes Carmen well placed to work with counsel, consultants and clients across a broad range of matters and as part of multidisciplinary teams in both advisory and litigation contexts. Her experience also extends to engaging with government authorities.
Carmen has a particular focus on general climate change advisory advice and renewable energy with experience in assisting clients to succeed with projects under the South African Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Programme.
Carmen was previously at another leading international law firm in South Africa where she practised in the public law, regulatory and environmental law team for a number of years, specialising in environmental compliance and litigation.
