Biography
Nicki Milionis is a workplace health and safety lawyer based in Melbourne with over 20 years' experience.
Nicki advises on compliance with both the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (Vic) and the Work Health and Safety Act (in the relevant jurisdictions) including about the management of concurrent duties, incident notification obligations, drafting or amending procedures, undertaking gap analysis and review of contractual terms. She regularly provides training to organisations about safety and compliance obligations, and to boards and officers in relation to due diligence obligations pursuant to safety legislation.
Nicki also advises clients during the course of regulatory investigations in order to effectively manage the response to the exercise of investigatory powers and the issue of enforcement notices. She represents clients in prosecutions and internal and external review of enforcement notices. Her experience includes conducting Baiada Poultry Pty Ltd's defence of proceedings brought by WorkSafe Victoria from the commencement to its appeal to the High Court (Baiada Poultry Pty Ltd v The Queen [2012] 246 CLR 92).
