Biography
Mary Anne Aldred is a strategic advisor in our litigation and disputes group and energy regulatory practice. She is based in Toronto and provides strategic advice to clients in the energy sector in Ontario.
Mary Anne is a seasoned lawyer, with over 25 years of experience in the energy sector. Prior to retiring in April 2021, Mary Anne was chief operating officer & general counsel at the Ontario Energy Board, where she was responsible for leading all aspects of the organization's corporate operations and for providing legal counsel, energy policy advice, strategic leadership, and for liaising with government on energy matters. Mary Anne joined the OEB as general counsel in 2006. In 2015 she was appointed vice president of strategic policy, assuming the additional responsibilities of strategic policy development and overseeing the establishment of the Registrar's office. In 2017 Mary Anne was appointed chief operating officer and general counsel.
Prior to joining the OEB, Mary Anne was a lawyer and regulatory affairs advisor for over 12 years with Hydro One and the former Ontario Hydro where she held the roles of assistant general counsel regulatory senior legal counsel and director, transmission regulation.
