Biography

Alexandra Mikelis is an asset finance lawyer based in London, focused on shipping and aviation finance and other transactional matters. 

Alexandra has experience in a wide range of international asset finance transactions, including traditional financings, loan portfolio transfers and restructurings. She recently spent six months on a client secondment where she was responsible for agreeing a variety of commercial agreements, including leases and services agreements.

Alexandra also advises lenders and shipowners on the international and European regulations relating to green ship recycling.

Alexandra has a background in shipping disputes, having worked on both contentious and non-contentious matters, including, amongst other things, international arbitration (LMAA and ad hoc), Commercial Court and Technology and Construction Court claims.

  • Acting for a Greek bank in connection with the sale of a portfolio of distressed claims against one of its customers.
  • Advising agent bank in connection with a US$600,000,000 loan facility for six LNG tankers.
  • Advising agent bank and lenders in connection with a US$40,000,000 refinanced loan facility to a shipping company for general working capital purposes.
