Trans people, including trans youth, experience many issues daily that stem from, among other things, the discrepancy that can exist between their gender identity and their official documents. Representing our client Gender Creative Kids, we successfully argued that certain provisions in the Civil Code of Québec and existing regulations are discriminatory and, as a result, are invalid. This decision, certain aspects of which have been appealed, will help trans, non-binary and intersex individuals obtain official identification documents that correspond to their gender identity and will reduce discrimination experienced daily.

Watch our panel, moderated by our partner Mathieu Deschamps (he/him), during which Ky Fleming (he/him) from Gender Creative Kids discussed the impact of this decision on trans communities, particularly trans youth and their parents with our lawyers, Michel Bélanger-Roy (he/him) and Jérémy Boulanger-Bonnelly (he/him).

To launch the panel, Pride at Work Canada business development specialist Florence Gagnon (she/her) presented the organization and its efforts to inspire Canadian employers to become more inclusive.
