Welcome to the sixth edition of the Commonwealth Quarterly

Canberra’s winter presents a delightful combination of frosty mornings below freezing and glorious, sun-filled days. Having now hit our shortest (and coldest) day of the year and with the countdown to spring on, grab that cosy blanket (or puffer jacket) and mosey through our winter publication of the Commonwealth Quarterly.

We are excited to offer a variety of articles this edition:

  • Ray Giblett, Tim Chan and Joel McKay provide an interesting article on space insurance, with Houston, we have insurance!;
  • the Australian Government declared six possible offshore wind zones across Australia in August last year. In Offshore wind in Australia: The key legal interfaces, Kate Muller, Claire Forster, Justin Lucas, Chloe Saker and Jack Brown share their thoughts on where the offshore wind market is heading, highlighting some of the key legal interfaces that Commonwealth and State governments, and prospective developers will need to consider in navigating these early stages of offshore wind development in Australia;
  • In the light of the Budget handed down last month, Calum Howard has provided a guide on appropriations, the Budget and the Commonwealth financial framework with the Commonwealth’s financial framework;
  • Abigail McGregor and Grace Do give us an update on the key recommendations and implications for government contracting coming out of the Review of Australia’s Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth) in Review of Australia’s Modern Slavery Act; and
  • last but certainly not least, Tim Wellington provides key points on what you need to know about the long awaited National Anti-Corruption Commission.

If you have any questions on any of our articles please do not hesitate to reach out.
Keep warm and stay safe!
