Biography
Deniro is a dispute resolution and litigation lawyer based in Durban.
His areas of focus are:
- Medical law and malpractice litigation – he acts for private hospital groups in South Africa and their public liability insurers, and two provincial departments of health in South Africa.
- Professional indemnity litigation – he acts for doctors, nurses, healthcare practitioners, lawyers, auditors and accountants, insurance brokers, architects and engineers, and their professional indemnity insurers.
Deniro heads the NRFSA medical law team, which comprises of 28 lawyers based at the firm's Sandton, Durban and Cape Town offices. This specialist team, which is one of the largest in South Africa, primarily focuses on the defence of medical malpractice claims against private hospital groups, two provincial departments of health and medical practitioners. The team also provides regulatory and insurance advice in the healthcare sector.
Deniro obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree in 2006 and Master of Laws (LLM-Business Law) degree in 2008 from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
He is an admitted attorney, conveyancer and notary public of the High Court of South Africa.
Deniro is a member of the NRFSA Supervisory Board of Directors.

· Deniro is acting on behalf of several private hospital groups and their public liability insurers in respect of defending medical negligence claims which exceed ZAR1 billion in total value.
· Deniro leads the NRFSA team acting on behalf of two provincial Department of Health in South Africa in respect of defending medical negligence claims which exceed ZAR15 billion in total value.
· Deniro is acting on behalf of a leading civil and structural engineering firm and its professional indemnity insurer in respect of defending a ZAR20.9 million professional negligence claim.
· Deniro is acting on behalf of an auditing firm and its professional indemnity insurer in respect of defending a ZAR12 million professional negligence claim.
· Deniro is acting on behalf of several medical specialist and their professional indemnity insurers in respect of HPCSA complaints and disciplinary inquiries.
· Deniro is acting on behalf of several auditors and their professional indemnity insurers in respect of IRBA complaints.
