Lawmakers filed a record 8,046 bills during the 140-day regular session of the 88th Texas Legislature that adjourned on May 29, 2023. While healthcare social and political issues were the headline-grabbing topics, several notable changes were made to laws that have health regulatory, licensing and operational impact. These include changes to laws governing advanced directives, updates to Medicaid managed care and network adequacy requirements and maternal and child health programs.
