Biography
Zachary Wegmann is a senior counsel in the firm's Intellectual Property group. As an experienced corporate lawyer, his practice focuses on counseling and representing international and multinational technology companies on all aspects of intellectual property law.
In his practice, Zach manages and advises on IP portfolio management, acquisition of IP rights, IP due diligence, technology license and transfer transactions, as well as IP litigation and dispute resolution. He counsels on patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright portfolios and matters, drafts and prosecutes patent applications, drafts and negotiates a wide variety of IP and technology agreements and deals, and advises on IP commercialization. Zach draws on his experience in-house and advises on data protection, digitalization, IT and organizational transformation efforts, and the establishment of IP policies and procedures. He also develops and implements strategies to merge and align the acquisition, enforcement, and defence of IP rights with the goals and interests of clients' technical and commercial business units.
Prior to joining Norton Rose Fulbright, Zach was a senior intellectual property counsel based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), an affiliate of Saudi Aramco. While at SABIC, Zach was part of a team that supported SABIC's Middle East and Africa manufacturing facilities and the company's global technology & innovation groups for its chemical, agri-nutrients, and metal businesses in the US, Europe, Middle East, China, and India. Prior to SABIC, Zach was a patent attorney at an American multinational technology company based in New York where he managed patent estates and negotiated technology agreements related to the company's specialty glass and ceramic materials for display screen and advanced optics applications. Before his legal career, Zach worked as a chemical engineer designing industrial biochemical and biofuel processes.
