Norton Rose Fulbright is named in The Times Top 50 Employers for Women 2019
Global | Press release - Recognition | avril 2019
Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has been named in The Times Top 50 Employers for Women 2019 list. This marks the firm’s third consecutive year, along with its sixth time in seven years, to be included in this list.
The Times Top 50 Employers for Women is widely regarded as the UK’s most high-profile and well-established listing of employers leading the way on workplace gender equality. The list is published in partnership with Business in the Community, the Prince’s Responsible Business Network, as part of the charity’s Responsible Business Week. Each year, Business in The Community invites companies with a presence in the UK to apply by detailing what they are doing to work towards gender equality in their organisations. Employers were selected for the list by gender equality leaders at Business in the Community.
The assessment process focusses on transparency, the causes behind gaps, companies’ actions to address these structural issues and the impact of these actions. The evaluation includes, but is not limited to, roles of senior leaders, efforts to increase representation of women in senior positions, intersectionality, programmes supporting parents and carers, analysis of any bullying and harassment claims as well as initiatives to promote gender equality outside their organisations.
Farmida Bi, Norton Rose Fulbright’s Chair of Europe, Middle East and Asia, commented:
“We are delighted to have been included in this list again, as it reflects our ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion. Our priority is to continue to be an employer of choice and to ensure our workplace culture is truly inclusive.”
Chloe Chambraud, Director of Gender Equality at Business in the Community, said:
“Congratulations to all of the organisations who have been named as Times Top 50 Employer for Women this year. Your relentless work to make your workplace more diverse and more inclusive deserves to be recognised and celebrated. We are delighted to see a growing number of employers supporting men to take on more caring responsibilities and tackling the root causes of gender inequality.
“Historically, companies focused on policies and processes to address the inequality and bias that employees face on a daily basis. But this is not enough. It is only by changing the culture and promoting positive behaviours from the top that employers will see real change, and we look forward to supporting them on this journey.”
Norton Rose Fulbright’s gender equality strategy is aimed at creating a culture which enables women to thrive in their careers. The firm is focused on the attraction and recruitment of female talent with a talent management process to assess the diversity and bench strength of the talent pipeline as well as targeted development plans to nurture rising talent. Programmes to support women at the firm include mentoring and sponsorship, talent development training, flexible and agile working initiatives, gender bias education, coaching for expectant and returning parents as well as employee networks for women, working parents and working carers.
