Norton Rose Fulbright represents Scandinavian Airline System in Chapter 11 cross-border restructuring
Global | Press release - Business | août 2022
Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright is acting as special aircraft finance counsel for Scandinavian Airline System (SAS), which recently commenced Chapter 11 proceedings in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
SAS is the largest airline in Scandinavia and serves as the national flag carrier of Denmark, Norway and Sweden. As a result of continuing pressures on the aviation industry, following the COVID 19 pandemic, SAS sought Chapter 11 protection on July 5, 2022 to implement a restructuring that will reduce its obligations, right size its aircraft fleet, and amend aircraft leases and financings on mark-to-market terms.
As special aircraft finance counsel, Norton Rose Fulbright is representing SAS on transactional and Chapter 11 matters related to the restructurings of all of SAS’s aircraft leases and financings.
The Norton Rose Fulbright multi-disciplinary, cross-border aviation and insolvency team working on the restructuring is led by SAS relationship partner Owen Mulholland in London, as well as partners Fiona Henderson and David Rosenzweig in New York. The team includes partner Will Alete, counsel Louise Auty and senior associate Olivia Cullen in London, and partner Eric Daucher and senior counsel Francisco Vazquez in New York.
