Advice on the United Nations Principles for Responsible Banking
Multinational banking group | London
Project description
We were engaged to advise a multinational banking group on the United Nations Principles for Responsible Banking (UNPRB) from a legal, risk and compliance basis.
Scope of work
We provided the client with written and verbal advice across the following areas:
- What the UNPRB are and what they require of organisations that sign up to them;
- What key steps the client needs to take if it were to commit to becoming a signatory;
- Key practical considerations in implementing the UNPRB; and
- Options for how the client could implement the UNPRB in practice.
What makes this project unique
Our advice provided the client with both a sound understanding of the key requirements under the UNPRB but also practical insights into what being a signatory requires on both a point in time and ongoing basis. To assist the client in deciding whether to become a signatory we set out a range of considerations, set out options for how the client could implement the UNPRB in a structured and phased manner and provided case study examples of how selected signatories considered to be “peer” banks had implemented the UNPRB.
