Professional Regulation

Norton Rose Fulbright LLP is authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority of England and Wales under registration number 466517.

Our Amsterdam office includes:

  • foreign qualified lawyers, who are admitted in their respective home jurisdiction. Please refer to the “People” section of our website for further details.

All lawyers are required to obtain a minimum of 20 training credits per year in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar (NOvA). Lawyers are also required to register at least one specific legal practice area, which should be published on the website as well. Per registered legal practice they are required to obtain at least ten training credits in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.

All civil law notaries and deputy civil law notaries are required to obtain a minimum of 40 training credits on a biennial basis, in accordance with the standards set by the Royal Dutch Association of Civil-law Notaries (KNB).

All tax advisers are required to obtain a minimum of 20 training credits per year in accordance with the standards set by the Dutch Association of Tax Advisers (NOB).

Complaints Procedures

We are determined to ensure that all complaints are sensitively, sensibly and satisfactorily resolved. Please refer to our complaints policy here.

Complaints in relation to services provided by an Advocaat in the Netherlands may additionally be referred to the office of the Dean of the relevant local Bar Association (Amsterdam).

Complaints in relation to services provided by a (Kandidaat-)Notaris in the Netherland may additionally be referred to the Royal Dutch Association of Civil Law Notaries (Koninklijke Notariële Beroepsorganisatie).

Complaints in relation to services provided by a Belastingadviseur in the Netherlands may be referred to the Dutch Association of Tax Advisers (Nederlandse Orde van Belastingadviseurs).

Professional indemnity Insurance

We maintain professional indemnity insurance cover as required by the Solicitors Regulation Authority of England and Wales Indemnity Insurance Rules 2013, on a world-wide basis with two Lloyds Syndicates: QBE Syndicate 0386, QBE Syndicate 1886 and Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance. Please refer to the General Counsel in London for further details of the insurance and how to contact the insurers.

In cases where professional indemnity insurance is required to be placed locally in accordance with statute or regulation, details of such policies can be provided upon request by the General Counsel in London.
