Paul Jorgensen
Biography
Paul Jorgensen practises in intellectual property and life sciences law. He has particular experience in complex patent litigation, frequently working on global mandates with counsel in different jurisdictions. He has appeared before the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal, and the Superior Court of Ontario.
Paul's practice also includes trademark disputes, product liability litigation, strategic advice on patent infringement and validity, and pro bono work with a focus on housing rights. He is a co-editor of the firm’s Pharma in Brief bulletin.
Before joining the firm, Paul practised at a leading IP boutique firm, clerked at the Court of Appeal for Ontario, and researched the molecular basis of cancers at Harvard Medical School and the University of Toronto. He is an author on over 20 scientific publications.

- Represented Pfizer in various proceedings under the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations (Bosulif®, Inlyta®, Xeljanz®, Sutent®) and the Patent Act (ElrexfioTM, Accupril®/Accuretic®)
- Represented Centric Brands before the federal courts in proceedings under the Trademarks Act
- Successfully defended Pfizer in first trial under the revised Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations (Nivestym®/NyvepriaTM), Impact Case of the Year Award from Managing IP (2021)
- Represented Hoffmann-La Roche and Genentech in the first proceedings under the revised Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations (Herceptin®)
