Biography

Michel Gosselin-Trépanier is a lawyer with the Montréal tax team. His practice focuses on all tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations and corporate financings. He is also interested in  family business transfers and tax and estate planning.

Michel also acts as legal counsel on tax matters related to income tax, GST and QST, excise duties and charities. In addition, he assists taxpayers in disputes with tax authorities, including tax audits, objections, appeals and voluntary disclosures.

Michel has acted in the following matters:
•    Solutions Beyond Technologies Inc. – in connection with a complex transaction under the terms of which it was acquired by Systèmes Syntax
•    Canadian public corporation – as part of a personalized settlement agreement relating to a tax dispute with the Canada Revenue Agency concerning the deductibility of interest payable on a credit facility of several hundred million dollars
•    Carlsberg Group – as part of the acquisition of Waterloo Brewing Ltd. (a $144 million transaction)
