Biography
Tim is a lawyer in the Global data protection, privacy and cybersecurity practice. He advises on the full lifecycle of cyber security incidents, from initial incident response, to containment and remediation, liaising with regulators, law enforcement and intelligence agencies, the implementation of cyber security programs and advising on any resulting litigation (including class actions brought on behalf of affected data subjects).
With a focus on large high profile breaches often involving listed companies, he has handled incidents in a range of sectors, but principally transport, retail and financial institutions. He has particular experience and competency in the investigation and understanding of the technical forensic aspects of breaches, and advising on the adequacy of an organisation's technical and organisational measures pre and post breach. He has also run and managed a number of payment card industry (PCI) forensic investigations, liaising with card brands, acquirers and issuers, and reviewing company compliance with PCI data security standards.
Prior to focusing on cyber security, Tim worked in the white collar criminal defence team defending prosecutions alleging bribery and corruption and complex fraud, and advising on domestic and multi-national financial crime investigations brought by a range of national and overseas agencies.
