Biography
Gabby Lyons serves as a trusted advisor to family offices and family- and founder-owned and controlled businesses in complex and transformational matters, including shareholder agreements; mergers and acquisitions; private investment funds and coinvestments; corporate, family and intergenerational planning; and formulating and navigating governance structures and implementing strategies to preserve family wealth and harmony while achieving business and personal goals.
Gabby has in-depth knowledge of the needs of family offices, including issues related to structuring, operations and risk management. She has routinely counseled boards of directors and senior management on strategic planning, material transactions and business decisions, risk considerations, fiduciary obligations, regulatory compliance and shareholder communications. She is adept at designing collaborative methods for decision making surrounding legacy assets and the connection between family and business.
Gabby has significant experience representing family office clients and institutional investors making investments in private investment funds and co-investments. She also has extensive experience navigating transformational mergers and acquisitions, structuring new ventures to achieve business and family objectives, fundraising, including fund formation and private and public securities offerings and contract negotiations.
In addition, Gabby represents fund sponsors in private equity and hedge funds, co-investment funds, access funds and other private investment vehicles in connection with the organization and operation of private funds, along with related legal, regulatory, structuring, governance and transactional matters.
Before returning to private practice, Gabby held several business and legal leadership roles with prominent family offices, family-owned and controlled businesses and family investment entities. Gabby has served newly formed or in-concept family offices, multi-family offices and legacy families, supporting the family, leadership teams and trusted external advisors.
Gabby is a frequent speaker on topics of family dynamics and rising generation stewardship and succession.
