Biography
Vanessa Ishimwe is a project finance lawyer in the Washington, DC office. Her practice involves representing lenders and borrowers in structuring, negotiating, documenting and implementing domestic and international project financings, with an emphasis on renewable energy.
During law school, Vanessa worked as a law clerk at the Environmental Protection Agency and at the Department of Justice in its Environmental and Natural Resources Division. She was the President of the Georgetown Environmental Law Society and a Senior Editor of the Georgetown Environmental Law Review. She also earned a Certificate in Transnational Legal Studies at the Center for Transnational Legal Studies in London.

Represented the borrower on a tax equity bridge loan and construction to term financing of US$263 million for the construction of a 204 MW solar project located in Uvalde County, Texas.
Represented the lender, coordinating lead arranger, administrative agent and collateral agent, in relation to financing of two portfolio solar projects in New York.
Represented a US government agency, as grantor, of a US$4.475 billion grant to Samsung Austin Semiconductor, LLC, in relation to construction of two leading-edge semiconductor fabrication plants in Taylor, Texas, a research and development facility in Taylor, Texas and expansion of the existing semiconductor fabrication facility located in Austin, Texas.
Represented a US government agency, as lender, on a US$147.4 million loan for the Pure Water Antelope Valley Program, which includes construction of water wells, water pipelines and an advanced water purification facility designed to produce high quality purified water for reuse.
