Biography

Gerardo "Jerry" Alcazar is a skilled trial lawyer who serves as national litigation and trial counsel for Fortune 500 corporations. His practice includes products liability, OSHA investigations, commercial disputes and other complex matters involving high-stakes litigation. Jerry's trial and arbitration experience includes representing safety product manufacturers, medical device manufacturers, large financial institutions, food producers, retailers, and maritime transportation and heavy equipment companies.

Jerry currently serves on the Board of Directors for Twin Cities Diversity in Practice. He also completed the ABA Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Section Leadership Academy and currently serves on a section task force and is a vice-chair of the product liability and trial techniques committees

  • Attained a take-nothing jury verdict in the US District Court for Eastern District of Wisconsin on behalf of a safety product manufacturer in a matter involving a 100-foot fall from a communication tower resulting in serious injuries.
  • Secured a complete summary judgment decision in an eleven-count action against a retailer following an employee’s theft and publication of the sensitive customer photos online.
  • Secured a complete summary judgment decision for a worker safety and consumer goods multinational cooperation in a wrongful death case dismissing claims in both products liability and negligence.
  • Achieved award of $4.7 million for repair damages and lost business income, and $2.4 million in prejudgment interest after an 11-day trial by a federal jury in the US District Court for the District of Minnesota in Duluth on behalf of a US transportation company that operates a fleet of self-unloading vessels in the Great Lakes.
  • Secured a favourable confidential settlement on behalf of a baking equipment manufacturer in a matter involving the near amputation of a worker's hand.
  • Achieved confidential recovery on behalf of large grocery retailer in E. coli O157:H7 contamination litigation.
  •  Represented custom homebuilder in an action to recover money owed under contract and defended against counterclaims. The arbitrator awarded 100 percent of the requested damages to our client.
  • Obtained asylum for a Somali client after a 2-day proceeding in the US Immigration Court in Minneapolis.
