Corporate lawyer joins in Brazil

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright announced today that corporate lawyer Fernando Almeida has joined its São Paulo office as counsel.
Almeida has more than 15 years of experience as a New York-qualified lawyer advising major international and Brazilian investment banks, corporations and private equity investors in a wide range of cross-border transactions involving Brazil. He has represented various issuers and underwriters in cross-border public and private offerings of equity and debt securities, as well as in private placements and bank financings. He also has significant experience advising foreign investors in the acquisition of, and joint venture formation with, Brazilian public and private companies, and serves as counsel to Brazilian companies in cross-border business combinations. Almeida's experience includes several years based in New York City.
Almeida also has substantial experience with investigations and enforcement actions under the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act as well as with other related white-collar and compliance matters that involve Brazilian corporations with SEC-reporting obligations and local subsidiaries of US and European multinationals.

Almeida is licensed in New York and was also previously licensed in Brazil. He received a master of law from Columbia University School of Law, where he was named a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, an executive master's in business administration from Fundação Getulio Vargas and a law degree from the University of São Paulo School of Law.
