M&A team represents affiliates of UWorld in acquisition of Aspen Publishing
United States | Press release - Business | March 2024
Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright advised affiliates of UWorld, LLC (UWorld), a worldwide leader in online learning for students preparing for exams, in its acquisition of Aspen Publishing, a premium brand in legal educational content and digital learning solutions, from a private equity seller.
The transaction, which closed on March 6, 2024, will bolster and diversify UWorld’s offering of law school-related products. Terms of the private transaction were not disclosed.
UWorld’s educational content uses active learning methods to effectively prepare students for high stakes exams. In addition to MBE QBank and Themis Bar Review for those pursuing a career in law, UWorld also offers college readiness, accounting, finance, nursing, graduate and medical learning tools.
Aspen Publishing is well-known for its "red-and-black" casebooks and legal textbooks that are sold through multiple channels in both print and digital format. Aspen supplements these core course materials with study aids and assessment tools and also operates the new alternative law school admissions test, JD-Next. It will continue operations as a standalone company within UWorld’s legal division.
Norton Rose Fulbright’s M&A team was led by Paul Conneely and included Evan Patrick Hardee, Sarabeth Shaunessy and Wesley Okereke (Dallas).
Significant support was provided by Ammad Waheed, Robert Paladino, Vanisha Weatherspoon (Austin), Todd Schroeder (Dallas), Bob Greenslade (Denver), Carolyn Webb (Houston), David Gallai, Jared D. Kaplan (New York) and Andrew Eklund (Washington, DC).
