Profiles in Diversity Journal recently recognized US Chief Strategy and Operations Partner Gina Shishima (Austin and New York) on its first "Diverse Lawyers Making a Difference" list.
In its fourth quarter 2022 issue, Profiles in Diversity Journal honored Shishima among a select group of five "prominent lawyers making a difference in diversity, inclusion and equity within their law firms," according to the publication.
Shishima, an accomplished IP and patent law lawyer with a PhD in molecular biology, was the first woman partner in the firm's intellectual property group, the first woman of color on the management committee and the first (and only) woman practice group leader.
In her current role as US chief strategy and operations partner, Shishima leads key operations and strategic matters for the firm, working closely with US Managing Partner Jeff Cody, US Chief Operating Officer Stacey Martinez and the practice group leaders. She also was involved in the creation of the Racial Equity Council, the firm's award-winning initiative to improve the experience of Black lawyers and other personnel.
Shishima has been active with the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, including co-chairing its Women's Leadership Network, and is also involved in the Center for Women in Law, as well as Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC.
