Quebec's Law 25 is not only protecting personal data, it's also changing how companies approach data collection and storage by making them rethink what data they have to gather for their business operations. Law 25 came into effect last year and aims to modernize privacy practices, requiring that organizations take a long, hard look at how they approach data collection and management. "What we're seeing is that organizations are taking advantage of this opportunity to clean up what they're accumulating," said Imran Ahmad, Partner and Canadian Head of Technology, Co-Head of Cybersecurity and data privacy at Norton Rose Fulbright.
