Two partners named Top 100 Lawyers by Los Angeles Business Journal

Los Angeles Partners Rebecca J. Winthrop and Christopher Pelham have been selected to Los Angeles Business Journal's Top 100 Lawyers list.

The recognition highlights the accomplishments of the most impactful lawyers in the region.

Winthrop has practiced bankruptcy and financial restructuring law for almost 30 years. Her practice ranges from representing financial institutions, purchasers of distressed assets, unsecured creditors and debtors in complex Chapter 11 bankruptcies in multiple industries, including healthcare, manufacturing, real estate and technology, to counseling creditors in out-of-court workouts and assignments for the benefit of creditors. She also has significant public finance experience evaluating the rights of debtors, bondholders and other creditors in the event of a municipality's bankruptcy.

An active mentor, both through her alma mater and at the firm, she advocates for women in the legal profession, and serves on the firm's Women in Norton Rose Fulbright Council.

Additionally, she is an active supporter of Union Station Homeless Services, an organization that works to reduce homelessness in the San Gabriel Valley, and served on their Development Committee for several years.

Pelham, Head of Litigation and Disputes in Los Angeles, is an experienced trial lawyer with a focus on litigating commercial disputes in federal and state court as well as in arbitral proceedings, representing clients that have been the targets or subjects of federal criminal investigations and conducting complex internal investigations. He also has experience resolving disputes related to allegations of trademark and copyright infringement, false advertising, breach of contract and trade secret misappropriation.

Prior to joining the firm, he led an investigation and litigation practice in Shanghai, China for another international law firm.

Chris also works to give back to his community, having long tutored students who were at high risk of dropping out of school for School on Wheels. He also serves on the board of Just the Beginning, a pipeline organization run by LA lawyers and judges, geared toward boosting underrepresented communities in law schools.

Honorees were selected based on nomination materials submitted to the Los Angeles Business Journal. Those selected for inclusion were reviewed by the editorial department and chosen based on a demonstration of impact made on the profession and on the Los Angeles community.
