Norton Rose Fulbright South Africa announces the appointment of Widaad Ebrahim-Fakier as a Director in its Commercial Litigation team, based in Johannesburg. Widaad joins the firm from A&O Shearman, bringing with her extensive experience in complex banking, finance, and administrative law litigation, as well as commercial disputes and regulatory compliance.
Widaad's practice focuses on advising domestic and multinational corporate clients, banks, and public bodies across various sectors, including financial services, mining, and technology. She is particularly experienced in banking and financial services regulation, insolvency, anti-money laundering, and information law, covering data protection, privacy, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance matters.
With a career that began in 2008, Widaad is also an active member of the South African Restructuring and Insolvency Practitioners Association, INSOL International, and the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
In addition to her professional achievements, Widaad is a proud mother to her 1-year-old daughter. She embodies the values of excellence, dedication, and balance, making her a great fit for the Norton Rose Fulbright team.
