United States | Press release - Recognition | April 2024
Los Angeles partner Helen B. Kim has been honored with the 2024 Asian Leadership Award by Profiles in Diversity Journal.
This annual award celebrates those who have led the way to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace and the community by mentorship, advocacy and service.
Among 18 honorees, Kim was selected for her longtime advocacy in the legal industry. A leader in the American Bar Association, Kim served as Chair of the ABA Commission on Racial & Ethnic Diversity in the Profession. She was the first Asian to serve as President of the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles and first Korean-American woman to serve as President of the National Asian American Bar Association, the voice of the Asian-American legal community.
Kim also served as Board Chair of the Korean American Coalition (KAC), a bi-partisan community advocacy organization in Koreatown. Under her leadership, KAC successfully led a multi-year effort to establish the first Los Angeles Police station dedicated to Koreatown.
In her practice, Kim is a trial lawyer with more than 30 years of experience in securities and other complex commercial litigation, representing companies and their directors, officers and principal shareholders before the courts and in arbitration proceedings.
The Asian Leadership Award recipients will appear in the upcoming Profiles in Diversity second quarter issue, sharing personal and professional experiences that have contributed to their success.
Published since 1999, Profiles in Diversity Journal is a quarterly publication dedicated to the recognition of individuals and organizations supporting diversity, equity and inclusion in the corporate, government, nonprofit, STEM and higher education sectors.
