New York team wins for Full Play Group with bribery conviction reversal

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright secured a conviction reversal for Argentine sports marketing company Full Play Group SA (Full Play) in the FIFA corruption case.
On September 1, US District Judge Pamela K. Chen vacated the March 9 conviction of Full Play related to payments made to South American soccer executives for significant broadcasting rights.
Judge Chen reversed the conviction on the basis that recent US Supreme Court precedent places foreign commercial bribery outside the scope of federal fraud prosecutions. The judge also voided Full Play's money laundering convictions since they were predicated on the fraud convictions.
