United States | Press release - People | February 2023
Norton Rose Fulbright partners Stephen Aschettino and Robert Schwinger have been named co-chairs of subcommittees of the New York City Bar Association's Task Force on Digital Technologies. Aschettino is co-chair of the Payment Services and Systems subcommittee and Schwinger is co-chair of the Distributed Ledger Technology and Blockchain subcommittee.
The task force brings together leaders in digital technology to engage on issues involving recently developed and emerging technologies, which have had and will continue to have a significant impact on law and policy as well as on the US and global economies. Members across 11 different subcommittees track, analyze and report on developments in digital technology such as artificial intelligence, cryptocurrency and the metaverse. They also make recommendations to policymakers on best practices and regulatory oversight.
In their new roles, Aschettino and Schwinger will join their respective subcommittee co-chairs in leading the groups' efforts to generate thought leadership pieces, including podcasts, CLEs and reports. They will also be charged with advising representatives from substantive law City Bar committees when their areas of focus intersect.
Aschettino is Norton Rose Fulbright's US Head of FinTech. He has more than 20 years of experience handling a wide variety of complex technology transactions and high-stakes litigation matters. He focuses on legal, business and regulatory issues impacting payments technology, including global payment systems, digital transformation and e-commerce solutions.
Schwinger handles complex, high stakes business disputes in matters involving media and technology, financial fraud and other areas. In addition, he is the "Blockchain Law" columnist for the New York Law Journal and also serves as assistant general counsel for Norton Rose Fulbright in New York.
