Canada | Press release - Recognition | November 2022
Partner Fahad Siddiqui has been recognized as a Lexpert Rising Star at the Lexpert Rising Stars Awards 2022, honouring a select group of leading lawyers under 40 across Canada.
This acknowledgement is widely seen as a recognition of the next generation of legal industry leaders.
As a former law clerk at the Supreme Court of Canada, a former securities litigator at a leading Wall Street firm, and a multilingual lawyer trained in international law in London, Fahad is uniquely placed to assist clients across the globe in a variety of industries. Fahad litigates and provides strategic advice on our clients’ highest-stakes disputes, including bet-the-company shareholder and commercial cases and industry-wide legislative challenges. He has acted before all levels of court in Canada and in arbitrations in a number of countries.
Fahad maintains a significant commitment to the community. His pro bono work includes cases brought on behalf of visible minority groups, refugees, and children with disabilities. He has advocated for a broad approach to public interest standing at the Supreme Court of Canada and for the availability of the fourth amendment claims to challenge unlawful pretrial detention before the Supreme Court of the United States. Fahad is also a mentor to numerous students and junior lawyers, many of whom are first-generation members of the profession.
Fahad has lectured on appellate advocacy at Osgoode Hall Law School, published articles on significant legal issues, and served as a director of numerous charitable organizations, including the South Asian Legal Clinic of Ontario.
Terence Dobbin, managing partner of the Toronto office, commented: “Fahad has developed a wealth of experience, both in and out of Canada, in a relatively short time. This experience, together with his commitment and skill, is of tremendous benefit to our firm and our clients. We are very proud of this award for Fahad, particularly because it also recognizes his commitment to our community and the important work he does to advance the interests of others.”
Presented by Lexpert and supported by Canadian Lawyer and InHouse magazines, the awards celebrate personal aspirations and contributions beyond the profession, such as volunteering, board membership, and education. The recognition draws on an extensive review by an advisory panel comprising esteemed legal professionals and the editorial team’s research to recognize the most outstanding private practitioners and in-house young professionals in Canada.
Fahad will be listed as Lawyers to Watch in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory 2023, along with Kelly Moffet-Burima and Brian Milne.
