Seminar

South Africa | May 08, 2023

Topics:

  • The Montreal Convention: Members of our aviation team, Romany Sutherland, Yishika Moodley and Michael Homveld will briefly revise the Montreal Convention and discuss the latest Judgement (2023).
  • How technology will shape human centred risks in the future. Are we ready? Lonell Coetzee and Dave Doull (please see bio’s below) will address us on the topic.

A few discussion points to consider:
    • The single pilot operation – why did we need more than one pilot historically?
    • Is it progression or simply a way of dealing with the lack of pilots worldwide or are we simply taking the ‘low-cost’ airline concept too far?
    • Regulators may lack the skills to regulate what they don’t understand – who will be balancing the risks? The insurers?
    • Who will train the (IT/AI) captains of tomorrow?
    • What are the implications for liability? Are we moving from a human to product liability?
    • What makes a human great? Why not focus on improving human 2.0 instead of replacing them?
    • Perhaps, the more technology you involve, the more human factors come into play …
