Big issues in FinTech

Well I think the biggest issue for FinTech in 2017 and probably beyond is going to be government regulation.  Governments will feel compelled to intervene to deal with issues of consumer protection, maybe prudential regulation, probably regulation around questions such as cyber security, money laundering, criminality etc.  I think that will be probably one of the biggest issues confronting FinTech going forward and if you add to that the fact that different jurisdictions and different countries are going to take different approaches you will add significantly to the transaction costs of innovation in the FinTech area.
