Biography
Jeremiah Chew is an intellectual property, technology competition lawyer based in Singapore.
Jeremiah’s practice covers IP registration and licensing, regulatory and transactional work, domestic and international IP portfolio management, technology and business process outsourcing, the use and adoption of AI, merger control and competition compliance. He has represented clients in contentious proceedings before the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore, the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore, as well as domain name disputes under the SDRP and UDRP.
As part of his practice, Jeremiah regularly advises clients on data privacy issues. His work in this area includes conducting multi-jurisdictional compliance reviews, developing and refining in-house policies and processes, conducting training for C-suite executives and other senior employees, notifying and responding to requests from regulators, and coordinating corrective action following data breaches. He holds a CIPP/E certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
Jeremiah is recognised by The Legal 500 as a “commercial and transactions specialist” (2025), "a genuine expert in antitrust matters" (2022) and “very diligent and professional” (2025). In 2023, he was also recognised as a Rising Star – Singapore by Asian Legal Business.
Jeremiah graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2010, where he was placed on the Dean's List. Prior to joining the firm, he practised intellectual property and competition law under a Senior Counsel at a leading local firm.

Intellectual property and technology
- HSBC – in relation to a proposed joint venture with a Chinese company to set up an online wealth management platform, which includes advice on various intellectual property and technology issues.
- De Beers – in relation to the development of a blockchain platform that will provide a mining-to-consumer diamond traceability solution and proof of ethical sourcing, including advice on intellectual property issues, across a number of jurisdictions including the UK and Singapore.
- Aviva – advised on the intellectual property and brand licensing aspects of the combination of Singlife with Aviva Singapore for SGD 3.2bn, which as of December 2020 was the largest-ever insurance deal in Singapore.
- TotalEnergies - in relation to its acquisition of Singapore’s largest electric car charging infrastructure business
- Allianz - advised on the data privacy aspects of a transaction involving the sale of assets from the Aetna group covering 14 jurisdictions (including Singapore).
- Hyundai Group – advised on intellectual property, data privacy and technology matters in relation to the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center, a state-of-the-art research & development and electric vehicle manufacturing facility in Singapore

- Delta Airlines – advising on the merger control aspects of a joint venture with Korean Air spanning 16 jurisdictions, including Singapore.
- Multinational real estate services firm – in an investigation conducted by the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore arising out of alleged abuse of dominance and anti-competitive conduct against an online property portal.
- Major online food delivery service provider – in an investigation conducted by the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore into allegations of abuse of dominance brought by a competitor.
- One of the world's largest insurance companies – in an investigation conducted by the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore relating to alleged sharing of sensitive commercial information.
