Norton Rose Fulbright South Africa’s banking and finance team on the successful refinancing of Core Energy (RF) Proprietary Limited

We are proud to announce that banking and finance director, Jackie Midlane together with Nicole McMillan and Devan Falconer advised The Standard Bank of South Africa Limited (acting through its Corporate and Investment Banking Division) and Vantage GreenX Fund, on the successful refinancing of the senior and subordinated debt of Core Energy (RF) Proprietary Limited (Witkop) under the IPP Refinancing Protocol.

Core Energy was awarded preferred bidder status under the first bid submission phase of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP) to construct, build, operate, and maintain a 30MW solar farm in South Africa in 2011/2012. Core Energy reached commercial operation in 2014. The project shareholders are Phakwe Witkop Investments (RF) Proprietary Limited, SunEdison Energy Southern Africa Proprietary Limited, and Kurisani Witkop Proprietary Limited.
