There have been reports that the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) has not been able to meet the timelines for implementing the programme, which includes providing detailed testing requirements to the first group of pension schemes who will connect with the central hub. The first schemes, which are master trusts with 20,000 or more relevant members, are due to begin connecting to the dashboard by the end of August 2023, although some pension providers have said the timetable is “too ambitious”.

On 21 May 2024, the European Council (or Council) adopted the so-called ‘Hydrogen and decarbonised gas market package’ (the Gas Package). The package contains a recast of the 715/2009 gas regulation (Gas Regulation) and a recast of the 2009/73 gas directive (Gas Directive) aimed at reforming the existing EU regulatory framework to support the deployment of renewable and low-carbon gases, in particular hydrogen. As such, it represents a major development in the EU gas market.
