Biography
Preston Glasscock is a Litigator in the Dallas office with a focus on complex business and tort disputes. He has a diverse federal and state court practice, and has helped clients through all phases of litigation. A true Texas lawyer, Preston grew up around and understands Texas' state and federal courts. He has been able to demonstrate that to clients across a wide range of subject matters, including contract, fiduciary duty, competition, oil and gas, securities, intellectual property, constitutional law, environmental law, significant personal injury, insurance, and white collar criminal law. In particular, clients appreciate Preston's constantly positive attitude, clear writing, strong oral advocacy, and most importantly, his willingness to go above and beyond for victory.
Preston spent his first year after law school clerking in Dallas for the Chief Judge of the Northern District of Texas, the Honorable Barbara M. G. Lynn. In law school, Preston graduated near the top of his class and received awards for having the most outstanding record in the class for Evidence and Administrative Law, respectively. His first experience as a practitioner was in the Washington & Lee University School of Law Black Lung Clinic, where he presented oral argument to an administrative law judge, and was a member of a three-student team that submitted an amicus curiae brief to the Supreme Court in California v. Texas on behalf of America's coal miners.
Preston was raised in Beaumont and Dallas, Texas, and is married to his wife, Shannon. Shannon is also a lawyer in Dallas and a former federal law clerk in Fort Worth. Together, Preston and Shannon are deeply involved in the DFW legal community. He is a member of the Paul Brown Inn of Court (focused on the Eastern District's Sherman Division), Eldon B. Mahon Inn of Court (focused on Fort Worth), and was formerly a member of the Patrick E. Higginbotham Inn of Court (focused on Dallas). Outside of work, Preston serves on the Austin College Alumni Board, the Advocates for Community Transformation Justice Leadership Council, and is a member of the Park Cities Presbyterian Church and the Dallas Petroleum Club. As an undergraduate, Preston played on the Austin College Kangaroo tennis team from 2014-2017, where he was voted by his teammates as Captain and MVP.

- Texas State Bar
- Represented publicly traded manufacturer in breach of contract lawsuit for failure to pay under a series of contracts and acceleration of a debt worth tens of millions of dollars. Preston served as one of two lead counsel on the case, fighting off substantial counterclaims, two motions to dismiss, an attempted injunction, and a Fifth Circuit appeal before the case was successfully resolved. Preston was the primary author of the victorious brief at the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and won an oral argument before the trial judge when the opposition attempted to prevent his client from selling millions of dollars in secured collateral while the litigation was pending.
- Represented former CEO of renewable energy company in lawsuit brought by bankruptcy estate regarding the attempted clawback of payments shortly prior to the bankruptcy that were made to the CEO as well as the CEO. The lawsuit settled out of court and Preston's client was able to keep the money that he had been paid by his employer.
- Used successful "Wells" submission to fight back against, and ultimately prevent, threatened civil and/or criminal charges by the SEC against the former CEO of a Fortune 500 company's large portfolio company.
- Served as lead counsel in lawsuit representing a lender in breach of contract dispute with debtor. Recovered full amount unpaid plus interest in settlement minutes before trial with the appearing Defendants, and obtained a default judgment against the other Defendants on the record.
- Represented gentleman facing hundreds of years in prison on a pro bono basis due to a court appointment against the Office of the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas. Some apparently thought the case was a slam dunk, but Preston drafted a Motion to Dismiss that the Court called a "close call" and which is currently pending before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. After some motion and hearing wins by Preston and his team, the Criminal Chief for the Northern District was brought into the case on the eve of trial. Preston and his team negotiated a plea offer with the Government so low that the Court rejected it, and the matter settled at a different agreed number shortly thereafter.
- Represented publicly traded manufacturer in obtaining a rare result in the world of significant injury cases -- a settlement for below the Plaintiff's medical expenses. Critically, Preston took the deposition of the Plaintiff in this case. His questioning brought out many lies and inconsistencies in the Plaintiff's story. These lies and inconsistencies were emphasized at mediation, which ended in an incredible result for his client.
- Represented former members of business partnership and the related entities in a business divorce against Plaintiff who was (1) preventing the sale of a building owned by the business partnership, and (2) trying to exit the partnership in a manner not permitted by the parties' agreements. The matter was resolved shortly before trial in a confidential manner that left the clients highly satisfied.
