Biography
Scott M. Kortmeyer focuses his health care finance practice on tax-exempt and taxable financings for 501(c)(3) health care entities and governmental health care entities. He has served nationally as bond counsel, borrower's counsel, credit enhancer's counsel and underwriters' counsel for revenue financings involving health care systems, academic medical centers, retirement centers and nursing facilities.
Mr. Kortmeyer has extensive experience advising his health care clients in the structuring and completion of financings for a variety of mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and asset securitizations. He has also worked with governmental health care and 501(c)(3) heath care clients in connection with the filing, restructuring, sale and/or purchase of assets through Chapter IX and Chapter XI bankruptcies.
In addition, Mr. Kortmeyer has experience drafting and negotiating all types of debt instruments and accompanying documentation, including disclosure documents, trust indentures, swap agreements and other credit and related security agreements. His diverse transactional background includes working in fixed-rate, variable rate and multimodal financings.

- Representation of underwriters in numerous tax-exempt and taxable financings for non-profit and for-profit senior living facilities
- Representation of a municipality in negotiating an economic development package that facilitated one of the country's largest furniture retailers to locate its regional headquarters, warehouse and distribution center in the municipality and anchor a $2 billion development
