San Antonio lawyer honored with State Bar of Texas Tax Section’s 2022 Outstanding Texas Tax Lawyer

The Tax Section of the State Bar of Texas recently named William P. Bowers (San Antonio) Outstanding Texas Tax Lawyer for 2022.
This annual award recognizes a lawyer who has a reputation of knowledge and professionalism within the tax and legal communities and who has made an exemplary contribution to the public and the communities in which they live.
Bowers' legal career spans more than four decades in private practice, and has also included public service, serving between 1976 and 1979, in the US Navy as the Assistant Staff Judge Advocate General to the US Naval Academy, and serving between 2006 and 2008 in the US Treasury's Office of Tax Policy. Bowers joined the firm as a partner in 2003 and has previously served as the chair emeritus of the firm's tax section.
A respected thought leader, he has taught partnership taxation for over 20 years at the University of Texas School of Law and for more than 15 years at Georgetown University's Law Center. He also co-authors a Treatise on Texas LLCs, which is supplemented annually, and is an active speaker and author on federal tax issues, partnerships and LLCs.
He has been recognized for his professional excellence by Chambers USA, Legal 500, Who's Who Legal: Corporate Tax, Best Lawyers in America and Texas Super Lawyers.
