Norton Rose Fulbright represents Broad Reach Power LLC on procurement of 900 MWh battery systems
United States | Press release - Business | April 27, 2022
Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright represented Broad Reach Power LLC (Broad Reach) in an agreement to purchase over 900 megawatt-hour (MWh) of battery systems from Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL).
Broad Reach, an independent power producer based in Houston, Texas, owns a 21-gigawatt portfolio of utility-scale wind, solar and energy storage power projects.
The company plans to install the battery systems in six ERCOT projects, which will contribute over 900 MWh to the Texas grid. The projects are expected to reach commercial operation in 2023.
This is the second large transaction between the companies. In 2021, Broad Reach installed 200 MWh of CATL equipment in its Bat Cave and North Fork projects, both now operating in ERCOT. Norton Rose Fulbright also represented Broad Reach on the development of these projects.
Norton Rose Fulbright's deal team was led by Luke Edney (Houston and Dallas) and Jeremy Tripp (Houston) with additional support from Mike Stimson (Austin and San Antonio).
