Diversity efforts in leadership recognized with Mansfield Rule Certification 5.0
United States | Press release - Recognition | October 2022
Diversity Lab has awarded Norton Rose Fulbright with Mansfield Rule 5.0 Certification Plus, recognizing the firm’s success in promoting underrepresented lawyers and considering them for promotion to leadership and other key positions. The firm has one of the most diverse leadership teams, with four of its nine-person US Management Committee being women, including three people of color.
The certification measures whether law firms have affirmatively considered women, underrepresented racial/ethnic groups, LGBTQ+ lawyers and lawyers with disabilities for leadership and governance roles, equity partner promotions, formal client pitch opportunities and senior lateral positions. Firms that not only consider, but also achieve, diverse representation during the certification period are awarded Certification Plus status.
This status means that by meeting or exceeding the pipeline certification requirements for Mansfield Rule 5.0 Certification, Norton Rose Fulbright successfully achieved at least 30 percent diverse lawyer representation in many leadership roles and committees.
Certified firms must also create and publish job descriptions and appointment/election policies for leadership roles. To achieve Mansfield 5.0 Certification Plus, the firm collaborated with Diversity Lab over a 12-month certification period with built-in measurement, transparency and accountability mechanisms.
As a demonstration of continued commitment in supporting diversity, equity and inclusion, Norton Rose Fulbright will be among more than 180 large law firms participating in the updated and more challenging Mansfield Rule 6.0 certification process, which runs from July 2022 to July 2023.
